PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reaction product which brings improved detergency and oxidative stability to a lubricant composition. The reaction product is at least due to the reaction of hydroxybenzoic acid, a boron compound, and a quaternary ammonium salt substituted with a hydrocarbyl group. It also relates to a lubricant composition containing this product. It also relates to its use as a lubricant for 2-stroke and 4-stroke ship engines (more preferably 2-stroke ship engines).
