FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics in pediatrics and endocrinology, and can be used in assessing the compliance of the volume of the thyroid gland with the norm or deviation therefrom in 4 to 15 year old children with a height below the average by means of ultrasonic diagnostics. For this purpose, ultrasonography (US) of the thyroid gland (TG) is performed, determining the volume thereof. The height of the child is additionally determined. Using the data on the volume of the TG obtained during US and the data on the height of the child, the diagnostic coefficient of the ratio of the volume of the thyroid gland to the height is determined according to the original formula: VHC=Otg/R. Compliance of the volume of the thyroid gland with the norm or deviation therefrom is estimated by the obtained value of the VHC coefficient. If the value thereof for girls and boys aged 4 lies in the range of 0.012 to 0.023 cm3/cm; aged 5 in the range of 0.012 to 0.026 cm3/cm; for girls aged 6 in the range of 0.016 to 0.027 cm3/cm and boys aged 6 in the range of 0.017 to 0.023 cm3/cm; for girls aged 7 to 8 in the range of 0.018 to 0.033 cm3/cm and boys aged 7 to 8 in the range of 0.017 to 0.027 cm3/cm; for girls aged 9, 0.018 to 0.035 cm3/cm; for girls aged 10, 0.022 to 0.037 cm3/cm; for girls aged 11 to 12, 0.020 to 0.041 cm3/cm; for girls aged 13, 0.031 to 0.046 cm3/cm; for boys aged 9 to 11, 0.019 to 0.034 cm3/cm; for boys aged 12 to 13, 0.018 to 0.042 cm3/cm; for girls and boys aged 14 to 15, 0.023 to 0.049 cm3/cm, compliance of volume of the TG of the child with a height below the average with the norm is diagnosed. If the values are lower than the lower limit, the conclusion is made about the presence of hypoplasia of the TG in the child. If the values are higher than the upper limit, the conclusion is made about the presence of hyperplasia of the TG in the child.;EFFECT: method provides accuracy of ultrasonic assessment in a certain category of children by means of calculation of the developed coefficient.;1 cl, 9 tbl
