A needle-free injection appliance (1, 51) for needle-free injection of an active substance solution into a subcutaneous tissue, wherein the injection appliance (1, 51) has an injector housing (2, 52) and a gas cartridge (3, 53), and a piston (10, 60) which is arranged in the injector housing (2, 52) so as to be movable, in particular linearly movable, by a pressure caused by a release of gas from the gas cartridge (3, 53), wherein the pressure can be transmitted by the piston (10, 60) to the active substance solution, which can be delivered to the subcutaneous tissue via an outlet opening (33) in the needle-free injection appliance (1, 51) when the latter is placed onto the skin, wherein the needle-free injection appliance (1, 51) has a lever element (16, 63) which, when actuated, causes the gas cartridge (3, 53) to be pressed, for gas release, onto a nozzle (13, 56) arranged inside the injector housing (2, 52) and tapering towards the gas cartridge (3, 53), thereby releasing gas for the movement of the piston (10, 60) during injection of the active substance solution; and also a use of the aforementioned injection appliance.
