To provide an under paper for sublimation type printing capable of suppressing generation of Hydrangea spot even when recycled as a waste paper pulp.SOLUTION: There is provided an under paper for sublimation type printing having a base paper mainly containing woody pulp and an ink reception layer containing a water-soluble binder, and containing a pigment of 40 mass% or less based on all solid components of the ink reception layer. A disintegration freeness of the under paper for sublimation type printing is preferably 100 to 500 ml.SELECTED DRAWING: None
