The present invention relates to a coupling device for automatically coupling a compressed gas container, in particular a CO2 gas cylinder, for or in an automatic gas filling machine, in particular for filling CO2 gas cylinders: with a connection adapter; with a receiving device which is designed to receive a pressurized gas container and to hold it in a predetermined alignment with the connection adapter; and with a drive device which is designed to guide a pressurized gas container held in the predetermined orientation in the direction of its longitudinal axis to the connection adapter, so that a releasable hermetic connection of the pressurized gas container to the connection adapter can be established in a predetermined end position. The present invention also relates to an automatic machine and a method for automatically filling a pressurized gas container.
