PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial material for easily forming, by a dry deposition process, an antibacterial thin film having a high transmittance and antibacterial properties, or provide an antibacterial thin film having a high transmittance and antibacterial properties, and a method for producing, by a dry process, an antibacterial thin film having a high transmittance and antibacterial properties.SOLUTION: An antibacterial material and an antibacterial thin film contain metal ion-carrying zeolite, and inorganic dielectric bodies. The metal ion-carrying zeolite has a content of 1 wt% or more and 30 wt% or less. The antibacterial thin film is produced by vapor deposition of the antibacterial material onto the surface of a base material.SELECTED DRAWING: None
