As disclosed herein, Mrap2 negatively regulates weight gain in animals. Accordingly, provided herein are cells, animals and methods related to Mrap2 inhibition for increasing the growth rate of cells and/or animals, eg, animals comprising Mrap2, to enhance production of livestock products.
