Disclosed is a method for generating a composite nutritional index (INC₁) comprising:  Selecting (SEL) an individual (U₁);  Acquiring (ACQ₁) a first set of phenotype data of the individual (U₁) characterising phenotypic descriptors (PHE₁);  Acquiring (ACQ₂) a second set of data (ENS₂) of a genotype characterising genotypic descriptors (GEN₁) of the individual (U₁);  Applying a set of predefined rules (R1_CIB) comprising:  Generating a set of personalised phenotypic and genotypic indices (IP_kp, IG_i) of an individual;  Calculating a target value (V_CIB) of a daily intake of the at least one nutrient (NUT_i) based on the application of an inference engine configured from:  Determining a composite nutritional index (INC₁) comprising an operation of associating a plurality of a target value (V_CIB) of a daily intake of the at least one nutrient (NUT_i) with at least one metabolic function (F_M).
