A visual recognition load value estimation device (100) comprises: an image acquisition unit (101) which acquires an image constituting one frame from an input video obtained by imaging the surroundings of a vehicle; a gaze point calculation unit (102) which extracts a plurality of straight lines from the image, extends these plurality of straight lines, and calculates the coordinates of a gaze point, which is a point based on one or more intersections of the plurality of extended straight lines; an object detection unit (103) which detects one or more objects from the image and calculates the coordinates of the one or more objects; and a visual recognition load value estimation unit (104) which calculates one or more distances between the gaze point and the one or more objects, and outputs a value based on the one or more distances as a visual recognition load value for the driver of the vehicle. A visual recognition load value estimation system (500) comprises the visual recognition load value estimation device (100) and an image capture device (200).
