The invention relates to a weaving machine for producing fabric, which is provided with folds, in particular pleat folds, and/or loops. The weaving machine comprises a material take-down (3) and at least two warp let-offs (1, 2), the warp threads of which can be supplied by respective thread stores. Respective drives of the material take-down (3) and the warp let-offs (1, 2) are designed and controlled in an open-loop or closed-loop manner in such a way that, when weaving fold- or loop-free sections of fabric, the material take-down (3) and the warp let-offs (1, 2) carry out a forward movement in the material take-down direction (14), and when forming folds or loops, the material take-down (3) and the warp let-offs that are not creating folds/loops each carry out a backward movement against the material take-down direction (14), without stopping the weaving machine (10), and the warp let-offs for the folds or loops carry out a movement independent of the other warp let-offs, without pausing the weaving machine. The backward movements are adapted to the sizes and characteristics of the folds or loops. The invention also relates to a method for producing a fabric having a fold, in particular a pleat fold, and a method for producing a fabric having a loop.
