High speed transmission sealed electrical connectors for hard disk drives

To provide an improved device sealing an HDD with helium gas inside.SOLUTION: In an HDD, a sealed electrical connector has a barrier structure 204. The barrier structure has a first plurality of connection pads 302 provided on the first surface of the barrier structure, and a second plurality of connection pads 306 provided on the second surface of the barrier structure opposite to the first surface. A plurality of conductors 310 are provided in the barrier structure, each conductor is connected to a first end 312 of the first plurality of connection pads and a corresponding second end 314 of the second plurality of connection pads. The barrier structure further includes dielectric material between the first and second surfaces, and one or more layers 330 embedded in the dielectric material. Adding layers helps to block flow of helium gas, which improves sealing of the electrical connector while maintaining high speed transmission.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
