A method of inserting a lubricated stopper into a lubricated syringe barrel or lubricated cartridge tube is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of (1) inserting a stopper having a sealing rib into the deployment area, (2) lowering the body of the insertion tube into a syringe barrel or cartridge tube to a position located over the top of the cartridge tube or beyond the barrel flange; (3) using the insertion pin to move the stopper into the distal opening of the insertion tube, (4) retracting the insertion tube while the stopper remains in a fixed position inside the syringe barrel or cartridge tube, and (5) ) fully retracting the insertion pin and insertion tube from the syringe barrel or cartridge tube. The process is conducted in a lubricated or substantially lubricated manner. The insert tube may be electropolished and/or extrusion polished.
