The invention relates to a current transducer for measuring the current flowing through an electrical conductor (L), having a current sensor (12), which senses the current strength through the electrical conductor (L), and an evaluation device (14) for evaluating the measured values sensed using the current sensor (12). In the current transducer (10) according to the invention, an energy flow direction is also determined, and the current strength is output either in a positive or a negative region of an output unit according to the determined energy flow direction. The invention also relates to a method for outputting measured values in a current transducer with output of the energy flow direction for alternating currents.
