The described embodiments provide systems and methods for reordering IP addresses in DNS responses. The server associated with a domain can often be located across multiple locations. The path from the client to each of these different servers can have different link qualities. In addition, the connection between the client and the domain can have different quality requirements. The solution can reorder the IP addresses in the DNS response, taking into account link quality and connection quality requirements. By reordering the IP addresses, the system can control the server to which the client connects and ensure that the connection is made via a path that can meet the quality requirements of the connection.
