METHODS FOR PROTECTING SENSITIVE INFORMATION IN CELLULAR VEHICLE-TO-EVERYTHING (C-V2X) MESSAGES

Methods performed by a computing device of a vehicle for including sensitive information in cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) messages are disclosed. A vehicle computing device may generate a digest of vehicle identification information using a predefined algorithm, encrypt the digest with a private key associated with the vehicle to produce a signature, concatenate the signature and the vehicle identification information to form first concatenated data, select a public key of an authorized party from a list of public keys stored in memory, encrypt the first concatenated data using the selected public key to produce an encrypted output, concatenate the encrypted output and the key identifier of the selected public key to produce second concatenated data, and transmit the second concatenated data in a C-V2X message.
