To provide a flow measurement method for optically measuring volume flow of fluid in a closed cross section.SOLUTION: A flow measurement apparatus 1 comprises at least one light source 11, and at least one sensor unit 12 detecting particles 13 present in fluid 10 within a measurement plane 14. The at least one measurement plane and the particles present therein are irradiated by a light source, incident light is scattered by the particles, and the scattered light is received by the sensor unit including a plurality of detectors to be outputted as output signal. A spatial filtering technique is used for the output signal from the sensor unit. The signals of the respective detectors are integrated and weighted, and outputted as volume flow.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
