The present invention provides: an organism mucous membrane model in which, when a mucous-membrane-protective agent such as an oral-mucosa-protective agent is applied, the results of evaluating retention properties obtained when the mucous-membrane-protective agent is applied to the mucous membrane of an organism are highly reproducible; and a method for evaluating retention properties of a mucous-membrane-protective agent. This organism mucous membrane model has, in the stated order: a hydrogel layer; a lipid-containing layer positioned on the hydrogel layer, the lipid-containing layer having through-holes along the thickness direction and containing a lipid; and a hydrophilic polymer layer positioned on the lipid-containing layer.
