A method of manufacturing an optical fiber having a fiber Bragg grating is provided. A Bragg grating is firstly formed by irradiating ultraviolet rays from two directions to the optical fiber drawn out from the base material, and then the Bragg grating is formed secondarily. First, the optical fiber having the Bragg grating is provided with a coating layer made of a UV-transmissive material before the second step is performed. In the first step, the extracted optical fiber is irradiated with ultraviolet rays from two directions.
