The invention concerns a clamping mechanism to attach a protective shield (2) to a spectacle (3), comprehensivea clamp (12, 13) for clamping to a beam of spectacles (5), the clamp having an inner and an outer clamp (12, 13) and the outer clamp (13) for mounting on the outside a beam of spectacles (5),a pin-shaped holding device (25, 28) for piercing a passage hole in a protective shield (2); anda fixing element (26, 29) for fixing the protective shield (2) to the clamping mechanism (3). After a first aspect, the clamping mechanism is characterized by the fact that the two clamps (12, 13) are so interconnected that they are positioned differently in the longitudinal direction of the pin holding device (25, 28). After a second aspect, one of the two clamps (12, 13) and in particular the outer clamps (13) is formed with two vertical clamps (20, 21), each forming a clamping surface (24), so that the other clamps (13,12) with a clamping surface (17) in the area between the two clamping surfaces (24) of the clamping pin section (20, 21).
