A method for calculating the progressive expansion length of forward and backward cracks of a metal pipe during internal explosion, comprising: calculating the natural vibration frequency of a pipe (S1); determining the axial movement rate of an explosive load within the pipe (S2); and calculating the average progressive expansion length of a forward crack and backward crack of the pipe according to a formula (S3). Said method can rapidly obtain the progressive expansion length of a pipe crack during internal explosion, and calculation is simple, convenient and quick, thus solving the problem in which the progressive expansion length of a crack is difficult to acquire by using an experimental means, and requirements for the knowledge and skill level of computing staff are lower.
