A method and machine to process section bars (2), according to which each section bar (2) is held by a holding device (17; 45; 57), and undergoes processing carried out by an operating head (22, 28, 29; 43, 44; 51); the swarf being removed from the section bar (2), or from a piece (S) of section bar (2), by means of a gas under pressure, which is blown along the section bar (2), or piece (S) of section bar (2), starting from a first free end (2a; S1) thereof, and is sucked in the area of a second free end (2b; S2) of the section bar (2), or piece (S) of section bar (2), opposite the first free end (2a; S1).
