The present invention relates to a novel butanolide dimer compound and a composition for promoting secretion of adiponectin containing the same as an active ingredient, and more particularly, to a novel form by linking two molecules of a mariolide derivative exhibiting weak PPARγ-binding activity. The butanolide dimer compound acted as a full PPARγ agonist in the hBM-MSCs adipogenesis model and exhibited excellent PPARγ binding activity. It may be provided as a composition for treating an activator, an adiponectin secretion promoter, and a metabolic disease caused by a dysregulation of adiponectin secretion.
