The present invention relates to a method for determining a custom ocular device for a wearer, the method comprising the steps of: obtaining a set of parameter values relating to the wearer; - determining at least one task to be performed by the wearer comprising a visual search; - determining, using the computing system, a value of a criterion for evaluating the effectiveness of the wearer's visual search strategy for said task; and - determining, according to the determined value of the criterion, an optical design of the ocular device to be worn by the wearer.
