The present invention relates to a method of producing high-purity 2-pyrone-4,6-dicarboxylic acid (PDC), and a method of producing an intermediate for same, the methods comprising the steps of: 1) producing terephthalic acid (TPA) from PET; 2) inducing TPA to react with a recombinant microorganism strain; and 3) purifying the produced PDC to a high purity. By using a biomass-derived SiO2 catalyst according to the present invention, a preparation method of same, and a method of disintegration of TPA with PET using same, high-purity TPA can be produced at a faster rate than the rate of a conventional PET hydrolysis process under neutral conditions, wherein the TPA thus produced can be usefully utilized as a raw material for polyester fibers and the like. The present invention relates to a recombinant microorganism strain for PDC production, having incorporated therein nucleotide sequences that encode the enzymes TphB, TphAabc, LigAB, and LigC, and to a method of producing PDC, comprising a step of inducing the recombinant microorganism strain for PDC production to react with a substrate. The present invention provides a method of purifying PDC to a high purity by adding acetone to industrially produced or commercially available crude PDC or sodium salts thereof, to remove therefrom, by precipitation, impurities that are detectable by NMR and/or TLC analysis methods but difficult to remove or purify, thereafter extracting a resulting solution with an organic solvent and concentrating the solution, and then eluting a resulting concentrate with a solvent mixture of ethyl acetate and hexane by column chromatography.
