DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING THE TEMPERATURE OF PROJECTILES FOR DYNAMIC IMPACT TESTING

The present invention relates to a system for dynamic testing of hot and cold cylindrical projectiles for use in the study of the dynamic behaviour of materials at varying temperatures. The principle of said method consists in heating or cooling a projectile then launching it at a given speed using a pneumatic cannon and causing it to collide with a rigid obstacle. Said invention relates to two subsystems: the first subsystem is used to heat a sample using an electrical resistance, while the second subsystem enables said sample to be cooled by circulating a cooling liquid. Each of these subsystems is thermally insulated using an insulating layer. The thermal insulation makes it possible to expand the ranges between the high and low temperatures which can be achieved during the tests in order to obtain accurate results and a more effective ballistic study.
