PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly convey a thin medium while accurately specifying a kind and a state of the thin medium being conveyed.;SOLUTION: A thin medium conveyance device 1A comprises: a conveyance path D capable of conveying a plurality of kinds of thin medium differing in thickness from one another; a distance measuring sensor 22 which measures a thickness of a part of a thin medium, positioned at a thickness measurement point α defined at least at one point of the conveyance path D, at the thickness measurement point α; and a control unit 10 which acquires thickness information indicative of a measurement result of the thickness of the thin medium from the distance measuring sensor 22 and specifies the kind and state of the thin medium. The control unit 10 acquires a plurality of pieces of thickness information at intervals of predetermined time while the thin medium is passing the thickness measurement point α, calculates a representative value of a thickness information group of a predetermined number of pieces of thickness information having been acquired successively, and specifies the kind and state of the thin medium based upon the calculated representative value.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
