To provide a method and a system for capturing and tracking movements and gestures of a body part (for example, a hand) of a user.SOLUTION: In a movement tracking device 200, antennas are near-field antennas that are worn on a user's body, and transmit and receive only short-range electromagnetic fields. One or more of the antennas emit a near-field electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field is changed by interaction with a body part, and the interaction depends on an accurate position of the body part. The changed electromagnetic field is sensed as a received signal by one or more of the antennas. The received signal is processed to yield additional spatial information. The processed signal is interpreted by pattern recognition (for example, a neural network). The pattern recognition is constructed using pre-trained or labeled pair data (for example, a known hand position and a corresponding processed signal).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
