The invention relates to a system and a method for the evaluation of reflectance spectra and determination of characteristic absorption features in these spectra. The system comprises an input unit, a computer unit and an output unit, and a device for recording the reflectance spectra, wherein the reflectance spectra are recorded with the device for recording the reflectance spectra and forwarded by the input unit for processing to the computer unit and evaluated by the computer unit. The process is carried out by means of the system according to the invention.
