The present invention relates to a system for configuring a voice recognition remote control unit (RCU) by using a cloud server, and a method therefor. The present invention comprises: a communication interface that performs remotely wireless communication with a product to be controlled, and receives, as an input from the outside, a voice signal for registering product information about the product to be controlled; and an interface configuration unit that compares each of the product information (EDID) with data about the result of recognizing the voice signal by a cloud server where IR code information has been registered as a DB, and allows the IR code information corresponding to the product to be controlled to be configured in the communication interface.
