The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating muscle diseases, the composition comprising at least one ginsenoside selected from among the ginsenosides Rg2, Rg4, Rg6, Rh1, and Rh4 as an active ingredient. When used to treat muscular atrophy-induced cells or aging-induced mice, the ginsenosides have an excellent effect of promoting differentiation into myotubes, and an excellent effect of regenerating muscle tissue, and thus the ginsenosides can be effectively used for treating muscle diseases, in particular, muscle diseases caused by muscle wasting, muscular degeneration, or decreased muscular function.
