Systems and procedures for identifying the phase and polarisation of independent modulation flows in square channels of a coherent transmission system are described using a digital code. As a result, phase rotation and polarization of currents that were rotated during a transmission and exchanged in the channel are correctly labelled and deperminated according to a known and predictable order.
