A CFD-based evaluation method for capacity matching between a transformer and a breathing system. The method comprises: establishing full-size three-dimensional models of a transformer to be evaluated and a breathing system thereof; obtaining a computational domain by division; setting boundary conditions and physical parameters of materials; setting a theoretical model and a solving algorithm; setting initial conditions, and calculating heat productivity for serving as a heat source; and finally, obtaining oil level cloud chart data of an oil conservator under different load coefficient conditions by simulation, to obtain the adaptation of the breathing system to the transformer. The adaptability of a transformer to a breathing system is rapidly and accurately calculated using an CFD technology to ensure good capacity matching between the two, and serious accidents such as oil overflow of the transformer after putting into operation are avoided while improving the capacity utilization of the breathing system, thereby ensuring the safe, stable and economical operation of the transformer.
