Nerve Stimulation Leads and Usage for Experimental Nerve Stimulation

In particular, in a test system for assessing the suitability of a permanently implanted nerve stimulus, devices and methods for stimulating a patient with nerve stimuli are provided herein. In one aspect, the test nerve stimulating lead comprises a coiled conductor coupled to a proximal contact connector having a holding flange that withstands tension from pulling the lead so as to maintain electrical connectivity during the test period. In another embodiment, the experimental neurostimulation system includes a reed extension that includes a retraction stopper between an implanted distal connector and an extracorporeally located proximal reed to prevent reed retraction through a secondary incision.
