PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sew various plackets.SOLUTION: A sewing machine includes: a cloth presser 20 which holds body cloth K and placket cloth N; a cloth movement mechanism 30 which arbitrarily moves the cloth presser along a flat surface on which the body cloth is placed; a needle vertical movement mechanism which locates a needle on the body cloth and the placket cloth held by the cloth presser; a knife mechanism 40 which forms a cut line in each of the body cloth and the placket cloth held by the cloth presser along a fixed direction; and a control device 90 which controls the cloth presser, the cloth movement mechanism, the needle vertical movement mechanism, and the knife mechanism. The control device controls the cloth movement mechanism and the needle vertical movement mechanism to form a first seam n1 and a second seam n2, and controls the knife mechanism to form a cut line c between the first seam and the second seam. The sewing machine further includes: a first folding mechanism 50 which folds back the placket cloth along the first seam; and a second folding mechanism 60 which folds back the placket cloth along the second seam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
