The invention concerns a procedure for the detection of sleep apnea syndrome and its response during a stay by a vehicle occupant in a vehicle and a vehicle capable of performing such a procedure.A procedure for detecting and responding to sleep apnea syndrome shall be provided by a vehicle occupant during a stay in a vehicle (10). By means of a sensor device (18), at least one feature of a sleep apnea syndrome of a vehicle occupant located in a sleeping area (16) and/or a seat unit (12) may be present,be monitored and detected. The features are recorded and provided. Depending on the measured intensity of at least one monitored feature using the sensor device (18), at least one interaction with the vehicle occupant is triggered by an interaction device (18) linked to the sensor device (20), to help the occupant during an acute phase of sleep apnea syndrome.
