In one embodiment, the autonomous driving vehicle is operated in an autonomous driving mode, and during the autonomous driving mode, the autonomous driving vehicle is operated without the influence of a human driver riding the autonomous driving vehicle. Current flowing through the first electrode and the second electrode mounted on the steering wheel of the autonomous vehicle is detected. In response to detecting the current flowing through the first electrode and the second electrode, the autonomous driving vehicle is switched from the autonomous mode to the passive mode. Thereafter, the autonomous vehicle is driven in a manual mode in response to a user action of a human driver.
