The present invention discloses a system and method for improving the performance and safety of a vehicle navigation control system by increasing the detection possibility and information of an object having a small electromagnetic wave reflection cross-section, such as a road sign and a child. The disclosed method includes a radar reflector and a passive, active or continuously programmable RFID tag attached to an object with a small cross-sectional area and an RFID reader added to the vehicle and connected to a navigation control system. The RFID tag stores object-related information that can be retrieved by a question reader in a memory, and provides important identification information on the characteristics of an object having a small electromagnetic wave reflection cross-sectional area in real time to the navigation control system in addition to the relative position from the vehicle.
