Devices and methods that use in-situ coagulation complex coacervates for vascular occlusion

The use of fluid composite coacervates to generate solid adhesives in-situ to secure medical devices such as catheters within blood vessels is described herein. The immobilized device allows targeted delivery of the bioactive agent. The immobilized device can function as an embolic agent by reducing or preventing blood flow in the blood vessels. In addition, the embolus produced from the in-situ produced solid adhesive may also contain one or more bioactive agents that can be released in a controlled manner.
