Artificial insemination device and artificial insemination method

A medical device for artificial insemination and an artificial insemination method are provided. The medical device has a shield and an arm secured at one end to the shield and extending outwardly from the shield. The arm is inserted into the patient's cervix and the shield covers the patient's external os. Inserting the medical device into the patient's cervix after artificial insemination establishes a physical barrier that holds the sperm sample in the cervix and prevents leakage from the cervix back into the vaginal cavity. The device may have a hole extending through the device for passing a catheter. The hole has a valve through which the catheter can pass and which prevents sperm reflux. The arms may have a circumferential bulge to help keep the device in place during use.
