PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to generate a virtual view-point picture even when an inappropriate picture that should not be used for generating the virtual view-point picture is included.SOLUTION: A picture processing apparatus acquires already processed information by performing part of generation processing for generating a virtual view-point picture on the basis of a plurality of imaged pictures acquired by a plurality of imaging means and a position and direction of the virtual view-point picture, on the imaged picture; and determines whether or not the imaged picture is appropriate for generating the virtual view-point picture. The picture processing apparatus transmits the already processed information when it is determined that the imaged picture is appropriate for generating the virtual view-point picture; and transmits predetermined "inappropriate" information when it is determined that the imaged picture is inappropriate for generating the virtual view-point picture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
