An elementary system for diagnosing the structural state of at least one rotary kinematic member (1) to be diagnosed from a kinematic chain (2) of a vehicle (4) comprising a plurality of rotary kinematic members combined with each other, including a rotary kinematic member (3) for measuring and collecting, at least one bearing unit (2c), which comprises: an apparatus (6) for measuring and collecting the value of at least one parameter of the running conditions of the rotary kinematic member (3) characteristic of the structural state of the rotary kinematic member to be diagnosed (1), being installed on the vehicle (4), combined with the rotary kinematic member (3) for measuring and collecting and capable of measuring and collecting the values of said parameter and of providing data characteristic of the running conditions of the rotary kinematic member (1) to be diagnosed, a data storage means (7) installed on the vehicle (4), a calculation and analysis means (8) capable, from the variations in said characteristic data, from a frequency corresponding to the rotary kinematic member (1) to be diagnosed and from at least one predefined significant value of the - or that is a function of the - characteristic parameter, of providing a diagnosis of the present or predicted structural state of the rotary kinematic member (1) to be diagnosed.
