The invention relates to a device and a method for acquiring geometric data of a track formed from two rails with a frame that can be moved on the track. These are intended to simplify and accelerate the calibration of measuring tracks for rail vehicles. This is achieved according to the invention in a device-oriented manner in that the device has a first and a second measuring device carrier (3, 4), each held on the frame, and means for aligning at least one of the two measuring device carriers with respect to one of the two rails (1 , 2), each measuring device carrier (3, 4) having a console (5) which has a first detachable receiving device (51) for a leveling staff (6) and a second detachable receiving device (52) for a laser beam having arranged reflector element (7).
