To securely excavate approximately the whole of an inner side face of a caisson blade, to secure immersion accuracy of a caisson and to properly maintain quality of a final structure.SOLUTION: In this method and system for detecting a subsoil unexcavated by a caisson blade, a reactive force from a subsoil acting on an inner side face of a blade C10 of a caisson C is measured as a shear force by sensors S2 which are arranged at a plurality of positions in a whole peripheral direction of the inner side face of the blade C10 of the caisson C and which can simultaneously measure earth/water pressure and the shear force. Presence/absence of an unexcavated subsoil in the inner side face of the blade C10 in an excavation of the subsoil inside the caisson C is determined, based on the shear force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
