The invention relates to an implant (1) for treating arteriovenous malformations, in particular aneurysms (11). The implant (1) can be delivered in a stretched state to a specific location in the circulatory system of a patient using a microcatheter (12), and a secondary structure is imposed on the implant (1), said implant assuming the secondary structure when the implant is released from the microcatheter (12) and, as a result, the external pressure of the microcatheter ceases to act on the implant, wherein the implant (1) is connected to an insertion aid (9) in a detachable manner, and the implant (1) forms a flat structure (2) which runs from a proximal end to a distal end, said flat structure being made of multiple braces (3) which form flat segments (4) adjoining one another. At least some of the flat segments (4) are provided with membranes (6) which fill the flat segments (4), and the secondary structure causes the flat structure (2) to at least partly coil axially and radially to the longitudinal direction of the implant (1) and produces a spherical structure. The implant (1) according to the invention is suitable for adapting to the inner wall of an aneurysm (11) and fill an aneurysm (11) virtually in its entirety.
