Systems and methods for cleaning optically transmissive surfaces and sensor surfaces to maintain optimal performance under various weather and environmental conditions using synthetic jet actuators. Actuators can emit a jet of water or air depending on environmental conditions and the waveform, frequency, and amplitude of the actuator can be adjusted based on particle properties and transmitted signal quality to better clean the surfaces.
