PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prediction method capable of easily predicting a shrinkage cavity occurrence position in a cast product from shape data of the cast product. SOLUTION: This is a method for predicting the generation position of shrinkage cavities 12C in a casting product 10 manufactured by injecting molten metal 1 that causes solidification shrinkage during solidification into a mold DI, centering on an internal point 12P located in the casting product 10. Then, the size R of the virtual inscribed sphere PS inscribed in the product surface 11 of the casting 10 is obtained for each internal point 12P located in the casting 10 in the size acquisition step S2 and the virtual inscribed sphere PS. A region identification step S4 for identifying a large value region AR occupied by a group of internal points 12P whose magnitude R is larger than the threshold Rr is provided.
