The present invention relates to an adaptive atmospheric intensity correction apparatus and method using a patch-based parallel operation method, wherein the adaptive atmospheric strength correction apparatus using a patch-based parallel operation method according to an embodiment of the present invention receives a fog image. The image receiver and the received fog image are divided into patches of a specified size in the first area, and the maximum color (RGB) value of each patch is calculated and stored, and the received fog image is stored in a second area with different sizes of patches. The final atmospheric intensity estimation is performed by performing parallel processing of a plurality of steps that are divided into each step, comparing the average brightness of each step and the adjacent step, and dividing the small patch, narrowing the candidate area of the atmospheric intensity. It may include an image processing unit that determines the patch and corrects the fog image by using the maximum color value of the patch in the first area corresponding to the determined position of the final patch as an atmospheric intensity estimation value.
