It is an object of the present invention for the treatment of papillomavirus (HPV) skin infections, in particular for the treatment of warts and related lesions. In particular, the invention relates to acetylsalicylic acid for use in the topical treatment of HPV skin infections, particularly benign infections, and more particularly warts. Any acetylsalicylic acid can be administered by a solid or plaster or patch, such as a tablet, powder or granule, by a hydrophilic or hydrophobic gel.
