The present invention relates to a method for obtaining CaO-MgO binders and building products by compression molding, with the reuse of by-products and/or residues and carbon dioxide. The binder is produced by crushing and grinding. The method of manufacturing the product consists of mixing the binder and by-products and/or residues with residual non-potable water, and curing the mixture with carbon dioxide under constant humidity, temperature and pressure conditions. The curing process is carried out by recycling carbon dioxide in a closed circuit and then drying the product. By-products and/or residues are rich in calcium and magnesium and may be slag or pulp from the steel manufacturing industry, sand and mud from the paper and paperboard production industries. Building products may contain silica and other residues and materials containing aluminum.
