An electric fan vibration fault detecting method, comprising: a vibrating object being an electric fan, obtaining target videos corresponding to the vibrating object (103); amplifying the target videos using a Eulerian motion magnification method to obtain amplified output videos of the vibrating object having a motion magnification effect, the motion magnification effect indicating that the motion in the area where the vibrating object performs reciprocating motion is amplified in the target videos (104); obtaining frame sequences corresponding to the amplified output videos, and for the frame sequences, calculating the cross power spectrum between the frame sequences using a phase correlation algorithm (105); performing inverse Fourier transform on the cross power spectrum to obtain the vibration information of pixels in the target videos (106); and matching the vibration information with the vibration information corresponding to a standard vibration mode, and determining the vibration fault of the vibrating object according to the matching result (107). The present method can improve the accuracy of information extraction, thereby improving the reliability of vibration analysis. Also provided is an electric fan vibration fault detecting apparatus.
